Welcome! Mothers Over 40, which was established in May 2002, is dedicated to all older mothers, mothers-to-be and those who are planning a pregnancy later in life, whether it's your first, second, third, fourth, fifth or even twentieth child! The aim of this site is to offer encouragement and inspiration to older parents around the world and to be a positive resource amongst all the negative statistics that you may read elsewhere about having a baby over the age of 40. If you wish to connect with other parents and those trying to conceive, please check out the meet-a-mum page. When I was expecting my fourth child at the age of 40, I found very little encouraging information that was specific to older mothers. As a freelance writer, I was eager to gather information on the positive aspects of midlife parenting, but despite spending a huge amount of time scouring bookstores and the Internet, I realised that such information was at a premium. If I could have found a positive site offering me reassurance, along with all the information I needed and answers to the many questions that I had, it would have saved an enormous amount of time, energy, frustration and anxiety. I hope that this site will be a comfort to older mothers everywhere. If there is anything specific that you would like to see included on this site, please let me know! Supporting this site financially is an ongoing struggle, but you can help in one of two ways. By clicking on any of the google ads you see in the navigation bar on most pages, you will earn a few cents for the site. The same applies if you order any books from Amazon via a link on this site. If I can just cover the cost of the site hosting, then I will be able to keep it going. Thank you. If you would like to read more about me and view photos of my family, please click the About link. Please also sign up for the free monthly newsletter. Jan Andersen Do you have a story to share as an older parent? Please e-mail me and I will publish it on this site. |

This Site is Dedicated To My Late Son On Friday 1 November 2002, my eldest son Kristian, aged 20, tragically took his own life. He left behind a one-year-old daughter, Kayla. His most outstanding qualities were his compassion, forgiveness and concern for those less fortunate than himself. I taught him the value of helping others and will continue to follow his example by supporting those who have come to this site for comfort and reassurance. It is packed with detailed features on which natural therapies to use at which stage. Each section includes emotional matters and is punctuated with common questions and answers, including an A-Z of familiar problems with the relevant complementary therapies to help deal with them.
